With TH1RT3EN, Megadeth is definitely back on top of his game. Fast, exciting, melodic, full of great beats and rhythms, TH1RT3EN is simply awesome. I am what we can call a die-hard Megadeth fan and although the Heavy Metal revival has really only hit within the last year with the Big Four Tour, Megadeth has been on their way back to glory for almost 10 years now. Since The System Has Failed, we can say that Dave Mustaine has turned Megadeth away from this kind of radio friendly rock that he’d settled them into. With TH1RT3EN, Megadeth is back in the spotlight more than ever.

Thirteen is an amazing album, probably the best in twenty years. It is strong, fast, interesting, rich, invigorating, Dave Mustaine’s singing is almost perfect, Chris solos are imaginative and the way that Dave’s and Chris’s guitars intertwine and replace each other is amazing, David’s bass is clear and strong and Shawn’s drumming is steady… A true masterpiece.

Chris Broderick is one of the best guitarist out there and fit the band pretty well. He is simply amazing. The production is very good and solid from start to finish. I didn’t want the album to stop. I strongly recommend TH1RT3EN to anyone who loves Megadeth and heavey music. It simply made my ears bleed with pure joy!!

In 2008 appeared the first installment of the Australian Training The Middle East. This album released only in their country of origin is the album of the break as the group in its original configuration will end its short existence. The following year, under pressure from the fans, the band re-released this disc in an abbreviated format and have the chance to listen to for the winds that bear down on European soil. So it is always better than nothing even if we say we would have liked to know all because we missed out on including Pig Food.

It is with great pleasure that we discover their second album, this time distributed to the world. But it is clear that this joy is quickly altered. Indeed, where the first disc was meant strong emotions, with songs you engage in intense throat of melodies that did not hesitate to defy genres up to use electronics, the second test looks good dull. We can not of course say that this disc is a total failure but does not confirm the potential that appeared in the first recordings. We know that the line up is changing and this may explain the changes in perspectives. Still, there is not a melody that goes beyond the other, no big musical research. This is a disc that is meant moving when necessary but certainly not poignant (piano and voice quavering Was My Grandmama Pearl Hall). A very strong folk connotation as Jesus Came To My Party birhday and choir lit the end of the disc seems more towards a Southern version americana (Hunger Song, Ninth Avenue Reverie, Deep Water). The album seems very long and would have deserved a few cuts.

We just hope that the winds have turned against them and they will reverse the trend and thus sail towards horizons to which they are as follows: sensitivity and emotion.

Aged just 18 at the outlet of his first album in 2008, the Englishwoman Laura Marling cover their tracks in spite of herself. A nice head of hair blonde dominated peroxidized, a British diction sometimes pronounced, songs that ranged from acoustic pop and folk song to the old, Laura Marling as much by his talent shone clearly through its fragmentation, its immaturity. Two years later, the young woman, (re) turned brown, which has always proclaimed his admiration for Bonnie Prince Billy, you seem almost overly ripe. The result, one imagines, a sensational break sentimental, which fed the entire second album Noah and the Whale, the group of Charlie Fink, his ex disappointed. At 20, Marling sings already in the throes of an oppressive relationship, the rejection of the noise of the city, nostalgia for the countryside, the dream of a secluded retreat, snow. Why not.

So, I speak Because I Can is confined to a sober, clean – guitar, piano, cello – leaving the spotlight to take his singing, delicately veiled. And that is enough to move us or charm us even when the songs lack the melodic grace of the most successful of the disc, as Alpha Shallows, Blackberry Stone or What HE wrote. For if Laura Marling has made serious progress in his writing, the good news is that his best record is still ahead.

Thus, in 2009, two years after the first album of Angus and Julia Stone, the album Smoking Gun arrived in stores in Australia. Angus, orphan sister sailing in a musical universe radically different from that ascribed to him in the usual way. If we find out the bit of folk we know it, can think in Home Sweet Home or Anna, as well as the first version of Big Jet Plane before the global success that everyone knows , the other songs stand out more or less pronounced than those of Stone duo.

This australian from Sydney shows us again his talents as writer and composer turned to melodies unexplored, much more rock’n'roll. The success experienced by the album on his land went completely unnoticed in our countries, because, as the album is never released. Anyway, the album delivered by Angus Stone is a real success. If you expect to find the pop and folk duo that feature of the form with his sister, you can spend your way. Finally do not get lost not too much of DedaleSonore!

And if you’re curious about the other facets of the artist or if you just want to show off during a discussion subtly evoking the name of the group known by many French, go for it. Of the 12 songs on the album, we note particularly, White Rose Parade, Jack Nimble, Smoking Gun, The Wolf, Kings Black Magic and the gentle Lady of the Sunshine which completes the album of the most beautiful way. Although the album is not available in France, it would be foolish to miss out. Remember rightly, that legal downloading is a solution to this frustration!

Sometimes I wonder if this is not in my head. This guitar distant sounding as if it came to me from another era. “When the wolves go blind” they sing a Latin tempo that reminds me of the Mexican border is not far … Bloody border, I crossed there forever it seems and while the wolves were neither blind nor deaf. We had to crawl, hide, but I got there.

I had to leave behind it, who I got so far. “What do I know about love?” A saxophone tired ask myself, on a background of accordion sad. I know the answer … The first time I saw her with her hair dark as mahogany veins, I knew that I could cross the sea to swim for it. “Mahogany Veneer” is the name I gave him and strangely, the delicate sound of the banjo that manages to remind me of my ears his voice … What would she think if she saw me now, on the edge of the dusty road ?

I wonder what I’m doing there, why can not I move to this dump. As if reading my mind, the music tells me to let go, “Dream of letting go.” I dream and yet it is impossible. I see this city in the distance seems to me empty, abandoned by God and men, “Frozen Town”, and even if I wanted to go and see, my legs refused to move. Yet the singing voice in my head is soft and appealing, but all around me is darkness, “The Darkness”, an impression of darkness and solitude enhanced by the guitar echoes creepy.

However, although I will need this kind of rat trap that I fly as the eagle passing above me in search of its prey, a “Golden Eagle” majestic plane recklessly. No wonder the men of this country chose this animal as a symbol of their power … Here it is the hunter or the victim. And I, poor and hungry, “Poor and Hungry” on the edge of my way, I rather like the rabbit that will be devoured by the rapacious.

If only I had not had the accident. I stole the car near the border git fifty feet behind me, it’s really out of luck. What is surprising is that no one responded when I planted. Yet I made a dozen barrels, it’s a miracle that I got out. Me am I out to do? I dare not look at the wreckage, the only time I did I felt that there was still someone behind the wheel. And as I was alone on board … “When I’m gone,” says the song, but I will I leave one day?

I’ll try to stay in this hotel, really. The Twilight Hotel it’s called, may be able to explain what happened. After all, since I’m here, I did not see anyone on that road, maybe it’s because this is where the end of the road … At least, I will hear more music and I would not be alone.

At 18, Anja Plaschg has a large cutaway. Composer from his childhood in his native village of Gnas, Austria. His parents are farmers. His village, located in eastern Styria, not far from Hungary, has no more than 2,000 inhabitants. At 14, the Berlin label Shitkatapult (T. Raumschmiere, Warren Suicide particular) took her under his wing. At 16 she left school at 18 she zaps the Fine Arts in Vienna.

During that time, Anja recorded his songs, all alone in his room, crafts proudly arranged. In 2009, Lovetune For Vacuum summarizes four fragments of melancholy, broken heart, mysterious beauty. Where the first song, “Sleep”, it smells a Cat Power is nearby. These noises scattered that haunt us, it was like Coco Rosie was now interesting pieces, even if “DDMMYYYY” (which shows his interest in electro Berlin) here is vain. “Turbine Womb ‘, played piano, Anja proves Plaschg not even need his voice perfect for us breathless. And yet …

“That she howls like a dog, she starts to roar and she chews her words, she mocks the ideal of beauty smooth” relevant notice Sonja Eismann, the Tageszeitung. In Lovetune For Vacuum, there are many promises. Rough but full of ideas, the thirteen tracks on the album soar, full of grace and melancholy (“Cynthia” and “The Sun” are the vertices of the album). Under his stern features, Soap & Skin is no longer the common man. The “child prodigy” loves qualify as Germany, even manages to remind us of the austere White Chalk by PJ Harvey. This means his talent.

When the difference makes the difference. The simple fact that 17 international musicians work remotely is already amazing!

But what about the music? New, different, “marginal”, surprising?

But then, here even if the information are not easy-we are dealing with a Greek composer coordinator, Stelios Romaliadis. He federated around the project sixteen other musicians, including the British saxophonist David Jackson (Van Der Graaf Generator, Peter Gabriel, Peter Hammil), the Swedish singer Lisa Isaakson (another name for psy-folk singer Lisa Piu o) Andria Degens (collaborator David Tibet of Current 93 and Pantaleimon in) and many Greek musicians (violins, flutes, celllo, etc).

Turning on the theme of illustrating the distance of man from its natural environment, the music wanders between trends prog, ambient (but devalued words styles carriers), jazz and classical. We sometimes think DAAU, but it is slower and more oppressive. For the rest of the comparisons are not obvious. The eight long pieces fascinate and bewitch, ranging from slow heavy (violins and cello) and soft dreams (the choir, the Indian flute).

The kind of album that worth a listening…
